Memorial Day Events and Activities
Memorial Day means more than a three-day weekend. While the extra day off never seems to come soon enough, it’s certainly worth remembering what we’re actually commemorating. Memorial Day began as a way to honor those who lost their lives in the Civil War. For many, Memorial Day is still reserved for remembrance–Lake Arrowhead included.
Every year, Lake Arrowhead honors those who’ve fought and died with a day of remembrance followed by a concert. We fly our flags at half staff until noon and channel gratitude for those who are serving or who have served in the armed forces. Though Memorial Day, by definition, is a solemn “holiday,” that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the extra day off of work.
If the first long weekend of the year brings you out of L.A. or San Diego and into Lake Arrowhead, you’ll find that it’s well worth the trip. Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer, and with it all the boating and lake days you’ve been missing. Check out some of the Lake Arrowhead Memorial Day events and activities that can occupy your weekend.
